NALIN MOOLJI
Born in a Gujarati business family dedicated to Hindustani Music, in 1954, at Calicut (Kerala). Started learning basic lessons in Harmonium, Tabla and Bansuri under the guidance of my uncle Late Gokaldas Visanji known as ‘Chotubhai’ a renowned musician of Calicut.
I had my training from:
Late Prof. U.Ramanand Pai, Mangalore in Vocal 1981-1986
Late Shri A.E.Vincent Master, Tirur in Harmonium 1986-1990
Late Pandit G. Madhav Bhat, Udupi in Vocal 1999-2007
Pandit Sudhir Nayak, Mumbai in Harmonium since 1999
I have specialized in fingering techniques in Harmonium solo and accompaniment. My style of fingering techniques on playing Harmonium has made a very good impression on senior musicians, critics and music lovers in North India. I have provided
accompaniment to many senior artists from Mumbai and other up coming artists of Karnataka. I am giving “Solo performances” in Sangeeth Sammelans too. I am also a ‘Sangeeth Visharad’ in ‘Harmonium’ from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, Mumbai with First Class.
Apart from Harmonium I am also giving short performances using a western instrument named ‘PIANICA’ (known as keyboard harmonica) in Hindustani Music.
Over and above performances I am running a centre for Hindustani music named ‘GUNJAN’ affiliated to Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, Mumbai at Calicut since 2003 and teaching students to appear for professional music examinations both in instrumental and Vocal. In Kerala I am mainly involved in teaching students and popularizing Hindustani Music. But outside Kerala I am known as a solo and accompanying Harmonium Artist.
